CREATE SOME BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES

The Bighorn River is arguably the finest trout stream for flyfishing in Montana if not the world.  Big Sky Country, long summer days, cool, clear starry nights and plenty of big trout.  There are many great fishing lodges throughout Montana, but the Fort Smith Fly Shop and Cabins has the finest accommodations on the fabulous Bighorn River .  If you are looking to catch big, wild, powerful trout that will take you into your backing, the Bighorn is the place for you.

Fort Smith is a small, former cavalry outpost nestled in the foothills of the Bighorn Mountains .

We specialize in guided fishing floats on the Bighorn.  We provide the most personalized service of any shop in Fort Smith.  The comfortable and friendly atmosphere is only one reason people come back year after year.

For the time of your life, come float the beautiful Bighorn River with us.

The Fort Smith Fly Shop and Cabins---the only thing we overlook is the river.

"Your charming villa on the bluff overlooking God's paradise for tight liners is seared in my consciousness forever.

I truly enjoyed your charming and delightful company.  Thank you for making dreams come true."

           The Bighorn River in

          Fort Smith, Montana is

         one of the top tailwater

     fisheries in the United States.

           Sunset on the Bighorn

The Bighorn River is known for its tremendous

resources of brown and rainbow trout, many over 18 inches.  This is due to the nutrients in the water and catch and release policy practiced on the river.

There are thousands of catchable fish per mile.  The Bighorn River is one of the few rivers where the fishing is excellent year-round.

           OUR LOCATION

We are located 90 miles south, southeast of

Billings, Montana.  We are 42 miles south of

Hardin, on Route 313.  The Fort Smith Fly

Shop & Cabins is on the right side of the

road, 1.2 miles after the three mile

cattle-guard.  Look for our  metallic fish sign.

"Go softly by that river side

Or when you would depart,

You'll find its every winding tied

And knotted round your heart."

R. Kipling
